David Loy Wins The Damn Am Skateboard Competition At Volcom

The 2008 Damn Am Skateboard Competition wrapped up this past weekend at the Volcom Facility in Costa Mesa, California. David Loy came out swinging on his final run and took 1st place to become a repeat winner in front of his home crowd. David Loy and Cody Davis went neck and neck battling it out for first at Volcom's Damn Am in Costa Mesa. With two flawless runs, it was no surprise to see the two buddies standing next to each other on the podium. In the end, it was David Loy's run that earned him first.

At this year's event, Volcom made a real effort to be as green as possible, starting with Frank Seura bringing in ASEC's Sol Ride, a school bus that runs off solar power and provided enough energy to run the entire contest off of. All the power for the sound system, webcast system and computers ran straight off the bus. Along with that, we had bio-degradable cups, a filtered water system to reduce on plastic bottle use, and recycle bins all over the premises.
