Rodney Mullen - Halfcab Impossible, Late Flip

Add to Mixx!

Here we have Rodney Mullen demonstrating the Halfcab Impossible, Late Flip. Lets break that down for you trick by trick and then show you the pictures. Now let grandma get back to her online bingo and you go try this at home!

First lets look at the first part the Halfcab Impossible. A half cab impossible is a combination of a half cab and a fakie impossible, often confused with a rolling nosehook impossible. One way to tell is to look at the front foot and see how it is positioned. Also, nosehook impossible's tend to stall on the tail slightly, while the half cab impossible is more of a fluid motion.

The second part of the trick is the Late Flip and here is how we break that down. In order to do a late flip the skateboarder ollies very high and at the peak of his ollie will kick downwards or shove the board around with one, the other or both feet in order to accomplish the late flip.

Ok here is what it looks like when you have Rodney Mullen performing the trick in sequence form. Pictures courtesy Tensor Trucks.

This trick is best performed on some sort of transition like the one in the sequence above.

Also here is a video clip of the first part of the trick the Halfcab Impossible. If you add a late flip into it afterwards it increases the difficulty level quite a bit.
